Handsome, fun loving, private eye, Dan Tanna, drives around Las Vegas in his vintage Thunderbird solving private cases but is also on retainer to a wealthy casino owner to keep crime out of his hotels. He is helped by his smart and sexy assistant, a sexy and not too smart chorus girl who takes messages for him, and his enthusiastic, yet inept, legman.
Aaron Spelling's lesser known crime drama. He also worked with the late, great Robert Ulrich in SWAT as well. First things first... Paramount, why, why, why do you release these series' seasons in volumes??!! Oh, money. Okay, now that that's behind us...
This series, if anything, offers a look back to old Vegas. Pure Vegas. Vegas with balls instead of the Disneyworld it came to be. Beyond that, there's a lot of chasing, fighting, attitude, etc. Ulrich is as good as he always is but the actual stories and plot twists just seem to be a bit of a bore at times. Maybe it's just me and the fact that this came out when I was but a glimmer in my parents' eyes, but it just didn't get me. In short, "Vega$" is forgettable at best. I hear that the show was much better and more gritty in the second and third seasons. Time will tell. I haven't even seen a whole season yet BECAUSE Paramount continues to butcher so many seasons of so many old favorites.
