Dr. Nick Cutter is fighting to re-focus his embattled team which is still reeling from Stephen's death and Helen's betrayal.  Cutter's team is joined by some new recruits as the anomolies contiue to present an unrelenting series of threats; the task at hand seems almost impossible to protect the world from the the dangerous creatures of another era.  As deadlier creatures continue to rampage through the twists-in-time, the team faces a threat to the future of not just the ARC, but of mankind itself.

Once again, the BBC has delivered another chilling season of "Primevel" to stun your senses and thrill your intelligence. Last November, I was fortunate enough to get to review the first season and I haven't been this excited about a television show from across the Pond since "Robin Hood". Once again, Dr. Cutter and associates battle a slew of prehistoric animals that escape to the earth via "anomolies" in the atmosphere and run amok across the streets in Britain.

If you are a fan of the first season, this wildly exciting season has Dr. Nick Cutter returning with his two remaining scientists (Stephen was sadly killed in season 1 and Helen betrayed her team) and a new member on the team: Actress Laila Rouass joins as Egyptologist Sarah Page. Also coming on board is Ben Mansfield as the new leader of ARC's security team. Team member Connor (Andrew Lee-Potts) makes a discovery that links such phenomena as The Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot to the anomolies which allows dinosaurs to freely enter and exit while munching on scared Londoners. For the uninitiated, anomolies are simply windows in time that appear pretty much at anytime and anywhere. As I had mentioned in my first review, THIS is the show that I had always hoped that "LOST" would be. This series is mind candy for escapists who enjoy the challenge of beleiveability that Science Fiction offers while then blowing that same mind with truly incredible special effects that are just as good as any big-budget action film currently at your local cinemaplex. The acting and stories are all first rate and I still have a man-crush on the actor Andrew Lee-Potts who is funny and hopelessly non-nimble as a scientist on the ARC team. His scenes are constantly the best of the series. Douglas Henshall ("Angels and Insects") is a great leader and is also a terrific actor and brings loads to his role as the husband who lost his wife in one of the anolmolies and then recovered her only to find out she preferred the other side.

In widescreen (Yea!!) and presented with enhanced Dolby Digital Stereo sound, this collection is every bit as good as season 1 and deserves to be seen by a much wider audience (those that aren't fortunate to have BBC America offered by their cable system) as it will appease the entertainment pangs of just about everybody. Besides audio commentary, there are two featurettes offered for bonus features but it's the series that will thrill, chill and fulfill you. An excellent rental and an even better value to own. This is a must-see for anybody who likes excitement, great writing and a Sci-Fi twist to their home DVD viewing pleasures.
