Review
I loved this movie back in the day and I love it still. To read my review in the "Video Risk" section Click Here.

The Disc
Great movie. Good picture and sound. No extras. A 'vanilla' DVD priced to reflect the lack of extras. Worth the price of admission for the movie alone.

Picture Quality: 8/10
No pixilation or artifacts. There is some lack of clarity during the night time scenes. All in all, the picture is quite good. It captures the gritty look I remember from seeing the movie on its first run.

Sound Quality: 8/10
Good stereo sound. The climatic night-time battle sounds great. It would have been nice if the sound had been digitally remastered, but you can't have everything.

Menu: 7/10
Easy to navigate. Not a lot of imagination, but that's OK. The movie's the thing!

Extra Features: 2/10
Theatrical trailer and nothing more. Oh well. As I said before, get this DVD for the movie.

The Final Word:
MGM has released a large number of 'vanilla' DVDs which are devoid of extras. Fortunately MGM also has the integrity to price their products with this limitation in mind. The going rate for this series of DVDs seems to be around $14.95. Whether you but or just rent DVDs of this type probably depends on how much you like the movie. In my book, "The Dogs of War" is well worth the price of admission.
