Review
King of the Hill: The Complete First Season is a collection of Fox's hit animated TV series. You had to have lived in a cave to not know about Hank Hill and his family and friends. This set is thirteen episodes of pure Fox hilarity.

The Disc
Without question, this is one of the sweetest DVD sets I've seen. Complete in every sense of the word.

Picture Quality: 10/10
I'll just say it now. The image quality of my review discs is perfect. Color saturation is flawless. Cell to cell density is dead-on consistent and saturation holds up easily on projected televisions as well as on direct view tv's.

Sound Quality: 10/10
Along with all other facets of this discs, sound quality is perfect.

Easter Eggs:
Disc One - Click on "Special Features" and select Commentaries. Highlight the "Main Menu" option in commentaries and then click LEFT on your DVD remote. This highlights the tractor mower on the right side. Hit ENTER, and you will see a short black and white mower tips video entitled "Mower Lessons for Charlie."

Disc Three - Highlight "Special Features" and then click LEFT on your DVD remote. This now highlights the map on the wall. When you click ENTER, Hank thanks all the people that were involved with Season One by letting us know that it takes "thousands of drawings for that beer to reach my mouth". Then, on the right, a listing of names scrolls by that includes all the people who helped pitch in to make Season One a reality.

Extra Features: 10/10
This disc is an extras junkie’s ultimate fix. I'm talking about main-lining. In addition to the outstanding extra features, each of the three discs is "hosted" by a King of the Hill star, namely Hank, Bobby, and Dale. And if that weren't enough, Easter eggs are tossed in. The egg on disc one is great.

The Final Word:
This set is why the DVD format exists. Vivid and rich in content, this disc is certainly a must have for you collection. Mike Judge, the series creator and the voice of Hank Hill, has an unforgettable series in King of the Hill and Fox TV has distributed a great disc set. The only improvement could be in the case presentation. I would like to have seen a really nicely designed metal case of some sort. Or maybe a faux wood veneer to reflect the series motif. All in all though, this is an extremely pleasing disc set.
