"Kim Possible" is one of the better TV series developed by The Disney Channel. The scripts are smart and funny. The animation is top notch. "Kim Possible" tells the story of a teenage secret agent who must balance fighting badguys with surviving high school. Unlike "Batman" and other super heroes, Kim is up front about what she does. In the universe of Kim Possible, this is no big thing. Despite being able to kick butt on a major level, Kim is still a typical teenage girl worries about all the mysteries of life, love and the high school prom. Kim is aided by her sidekick Ron Stoppable and Rufus, his pet naked mole rat.
The DVD includes three episodes and an unaired bonus episode. "Crush" is the series premiere. In this episode Kim fights her arch-nemesis Dr. Drakken and find the strength to ask out a boy for the Sadie Hawkins dance. In "Class Reunion" Kim helps her father Dr. Possible foil Drakken's plot to kidnap all of Dr. Possible's old college classmates. My kids especially enjoyed "Downhill" as it involves the pain of being around your parents on a class trip. Oh well!
Fun TV show. Great picture and sound. So-so extras.
Picture Quality: 10/10
Rich, well-saturated colors. No artifacts or pixilation. Perfect picture.
Sound Quality: 10/10
Great use of the surround sound features. Nice balance between the ranges.
Easter Eggs:
No Easter Eggs found during review.
Extra Features: 7/10
The best bonus feature is the unaired episode "Partners." The funny show had Dr. Drakken wooing DNAmy to try and use her gene splicing secrets for his evil experiments. Of course, Kim is there to save the day.
The extras rating would be much lower if not for the bonus episode. The remaining extras include a lame game, sneak peeks for a number of Disney products and a music video.
The Final Word:
Fans of the series will enjoy this. The price is right. To bad, Disney didn't go ahead and release a "Complete Season One" collection.
