Review
You know the story. Great entertainment for the monster lover in all of us. Man plays God. Man screws up. Man's mistake has him for dinner.

The Disc
This disc is the perfect example of why I love DVDs. The picture and sound are so far superior to anything you see on VHS. All kinds of extra goodies. A must have for any collector.

Picture Quality: 10/10
No expense was spared in the transfer process.

Sound Quality: 10/10
You turn it up loud enough and you can feel the great sound.

Menu: 10/10
Nice design. easy to navigate. This is something considering the number of menu screens!

Extra Features: 11/10
Great documentary about the making of Jurrasic park. It includes some nice vintage material concerning Willis O'Brien and Ray Harryhausen. Lots of good interviews and indepth technical information. Photos out the wazoo! Some nice conceptual paintings (though not as good as those on The Lost World DVD.) Storyboards of 5 scenes including an omitted triceratops scene and the original ending. Nice little animatics scene. This is a stop motion version of the kitchen scene by Phil Tipett. Lots of other goodies to explore. Kids should like the Dino encyclopedia. Wish there had been a director's comentary, but the documentary pretty much covers everything, so I didn't deduct points for this oversight.

The Final Word:
I got this as part of a boxed set called "Jurrasic Park: The Collection." It also includes "The Lost World." Even though I already had both movies on video, I couldn't pass this up. Glad I got it. I actually bought it in a pawn shop for $10.00 so I got a great deal. Don't know what it costs new but it would be worth it.
