1-Disc Keep Case

One of the earliest and best Wyatt Earp renditions. Kirk Douglas (Doc Holiday) and Burt Lancaster (Earp) ride into Tombstone and find themselves pitted against one of the biggest foes ever encountered, Ike Clanton and his gang of Cowboys.
While many with remember Kurt Russel's version, or Kevin Costner's more historical telling of the story, this film focuses on the legend of one of history's most infamous gunfights.
The disc overall is good merely for having this film preserved on DVD. The extras are null and void, but we get to keep this classic in our libraries for the rest of time.
Picture Quality: 7/10
The transfer isn't as sleek as some would have liked. The colors and flesh tones are represented very well, but the darks are terrible at times, and there are many halos that can be seen.
Sound Quality: 5/10
Just average for such an old release that contains only the Mono Dolby track. The soundtrack seems a bit low quality, and the effects mixed with the dialogue seemed a bit too bloated.
Menu: 5/10
NOthing more than still images from the film and interactive chapters.
Extra Features: 2/10
None to speak of, besides having this film in a widescreen format.
The Final Word:
Overall, the film is a classic that all Western lovers should have. It would have been nice to at least see some old trailers, but alas, the film is a bit too old for that kind of attention I guess. I still like Tombstone and Wyatt Earp a bit more, but the legend is told wonderfully here.
