Review
Oscar winner for Best Picture 2002, "Chicago" is a sexy musical romp through the world of bath tub gin and bad girls circa 1920. Director Rob Marshall brought Bob Fosse's stage musical to tawdry life. The spirit of Fosse shines through in the many dazzling musical numbers. Richard Gere, Rene Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Queen Latifah all shine. To read Jonathan Hickman's archived review from the film's theatrical release CLICK HERE.

The Disc
Great movie, picture, sound and extras.

Picture Quality: 10/10
Excellent transfer. Great flesh tones. No delineation problems, pixilation or artifacts. Deep, well saturated colors. Sharp images all the way to the edge.

Sound Quality: 10/10
Turn it up! Both the 5.1 and DTS tracks are well balanced. Full, rich tones throughout all the ranges. This DVD will give your home theater system a real work out.

Easter Eggs:
None found.

Extra Features: 7/10
The commentary track is a lot of fun. Many anecdotes about the film's production. The behind the scenes featurette is full of interviews and footage from the film's production. The deleted scene was rightfully deleted. The duet between Queen Latifah and Catherine Zeta-Zones is bland and profane. The song "Class" has no class and belongs on the cutting room floor.

The Final Word:
A fun movie that should be a permanant part of any musical lover's DVD library.
