Review
"Butt Ugly Martians" has to be one of the worst ideas that Nickelodeon TV has ever come up with. This TV series follows the adventures of Do-Wah, B-Bop and 2T, three teenage Martians chillin on Earth. They were actually advanced scouts for an invasion, but they were seduced by the American way of leisure. The Bugs in the Hood are into everything many urban kids are into except for 9mm guns. After sitting through these horrible shows I really wished that one of the characters had been packing. I'd pay good money to see Vasquez from "Aliens" put these annoying little space brats in their place.

In case you think I'm being unnecessarily hard on these computer-generated idiots, I'll quote my son's 13-year-old friend Worth. "It's like someone took 'Power Rangers,' crossed them with 'Aliens' and dumbed it down for kids." My son, Blair swears he saw one good episode once. Of course it wasn’t one of the episodes on these disks.

"Butt Ugly Martians: Boyz to Martians" deals with our heroes trying to make a music video and convince their evil emperor that it is just part of their plan to rule the world. The disk includes 3 episodes.

"Butt Ugly Martians: Hoverboard Heroes" deal with the Martians attempts to protect earth from their evil Emperor Bog. The disk includes 3 episodes.

"Butt Ugly Martians: Best of the Bad Guys" deals with Emperor Bog's invasion of Earth after he discovers the boys are protecting Earth rather than aiding in its destruction.

These DVDs are unimaginative, poorly animated and worst of all, not funny!

The Disc
Terrible movies. Good picture and sound. OK extras.

Picture Quality: 7/10
These shows are computer generated. The animation is state of the art, circa 1985. Think early MTV videos. There is a great deal of shimmering, especially when the robot dog, Dog is on screen. No artifacts or pixilation. The problems with this picture come from the source material. This show is a poorly designed and executed mess.

Sound Quality: 8/10
The sound is good, but you will want to turn it off. Heck, you will want to pull an Elvis and shoot the TV if you watch too much of this garbage!

Menu: 7/10
OK design. Easy to navigate.

Extra Features: 4/10
The only extra you can access on TV is the "Character File." It includes personal information about the three Martian characters. So what.

The only redeeming feature on any of these disks is the DVD-ROM games. Well, one of the games. There is an "Asteroid Blaster" game that is easy to play and has cool graphics. The other game is a picture match game that resembles a slot machine. Nice subliminal message for little kids!

The Final Word:
Even my kids hated this one. If you find your child watching these shows and enjoying them, I can give you the number of a good child psychologist.
