Review
The rise and fall of a group of dimwitted pornographers from the Valley in 1970s. A work of love from director Paul Thomas Anderson. Love porn or hate it, there is no denying that Anderson has created a moving look into the lives of people on the edge.

The Disc
High quality sound and picture. Loads of special features. Nice commentaries by the director, cast and crew.

Picture Quality: 10/10
Crisp. Better than any video transfer or the earlier DVD release.

Sound Quality: 10/10
Top notch.

Menu: 7/10
Unattractive and cheesy. Not a lot of effort or imagination put into the menus. It is easy to navigate and the instructions are clear.

Extra Features: 9/10
I read a DVD critique in which the reviewer said he hated these director commentaries from new directors who have made their mark. Would he have said the same thing about Orson Wells debut film, Citizen Kane? I am impressed by Anderson's work. To use a cliche, he's the new Altman. I thoughly enjoyed his commentary. It is very personal. He would be a cool guy to hang out with. I enjoyed the deleted scenes, but was glad that they had been deleted from the final release. What's up with "The John C. Riley Files." Didn't get it. I also enjoyed the Music menu.

The Final Word:
Get it! Got it? Good!
