Review
The Dark Knight and his cohorts Robin and Batgirl do battle with a scarily sympathetic archvillain in this superior animated movie that both kids and adults can watch without feeling insulted. This video release is superb from beginning credits to the final frame and deserves to be seen by a wider audience - preferably the makers of the last two "live action" films. This well-plotted, awesomely stylish wall-to-wall actioner perfectly captures the fundamental essence of the classic comics, and makes the treatment of the same characters in the painful live-action Batman & Robin look even more ineptly misguided. Simply put, this is how the Masked Manhunter of Gotham should be depicted.

The Disc
Worth the price simply for the film itself. Though a little light on the extras, solid video and audio quality anchor this nice disc.

Picture Quality: 8/10
A nice clean transfer from Warner Home Video. The colors are vibrant and faithful to the series. For those curious, traditional animated films seem to transfer much cleaner to DVD than live-action, simply due to the amount of color information carried in the bit-stream.

Sound Quality: 8/10
A very convincing audio track. Dialogue was crisp, despite the two-channel surround transfer.

Menu: 8/10
Nice, simple menu system.

Extra Features: 5/10
Save for the "How to Draw BATMAN" featurette, there are not really any other worthy features to mention.

The Final Word:
Worth the price simply for the film itself. Though a little light on the extras, solid video and audio quality anchor this nice disc.
