I normally don't post something this short on actual news but come on....it's Kill Bill we are talking about! This movie has created more arguments between my brother and I than I care to count. But the good news is that we will get to argue even more now because reports are that Tarantino is now thinking about doing Kill Bill 3!
You may or may not be a fan of this two volume set but either way it is one of the more popular Tarantino flicks along side of Pulp Fiction. It does look like Uma Thurman back as "The Bride". Apparently, Tarantino wanted to do an animated follow up to the "Bill" series but now it looks like since Uma is on board...we gets what we wants. Or at least I do.
So bring it on. No idea when shoot may begin but great news in my book.

If you remember the scoop awhile back, Sean Penn was attached to star in Asger Leth's "Cartel", a story about a man on a mission to protect his son after his wife is brutally murdered in the gritty world of Mexican drug cartels.
Penn left the project, among others, to focus on his marraige and family.
In comes Josh Brolin to the role! I would have loved to see Penn in this flick, but Brolin is going to be damn good!

An adaptation of the Richard Mathison ("I Am Legend") short story that was formerly adapted as an excellent classic Twilight Zone episode, Shawn Levy directs this sci-fi feature with Hugh Jackman close to signing on as an ex-fighter who becomes a promoter when human boxing is outlawed for being too violent. The new gladiators are 2,000-pound robots with human qualities.
The ex-fighter's access to sub-standard robot parts hampers his hopes for glory in Robot Boxing, until he discovers a discarded robot that always seems to win. The ex-fighter has also discovered he's the father of a 13-year old son, and they bond as the robot brawls its way toward the top.
It does sound strange, but go watch the classic episode and see how it plays so well onscreen.

It's confirmed, "Transformers 3" will debut on July 1st, 2011 with Michael Bay returning as director.
I LOVE Bay's visual flare for this franchise. He's perfect for it and should have directed "G.I. Joe". The first Transformers was good, despite some story flaws and lame humor attempts. Visually, he nailed it. "Transformers 2" was a mess if you ask me. Just a mess. The "story" was terrible and incohesive at times. The effects were good I guess, but it was almost too much and because the story was so bad you weren't really invested. Yes, there were shining moments with certain battle sequences, but overall it just wasn't the sequel I was hoping for.
And Bay, please get away from the near soft core porn way you shoot your female actors (see above)... Megan Fox especially. She's hot. We know. Hey, I like a hot girl in a summer flick, but it was almost creepy the way Bay shoots his female actors (see above).
The second flick has made a LOT of money... breaking the Top 10 of all time. But it was reviled in not only the critics' eyes, but the fanboys too. I guess eye candy is eye candy. I'm hoping Bay can draft a better script and make a better edited movie as well.

Uma Thurman is set to star in the romantic comedy "Ceremony", about a young man who falls for an older woman (Thurman) who is about to get married.
Where has Uma been lately? She's too good to be out of the spotlight for so long.

Jamie Foxx will reunite with his "The Soloist" costar Robert Downey Jr. for the comedy "Due Date". Todd Phillips is set to direct.
Robert Downey Jr. plays an expectant father who finds himself on a road trip with a mismatched partner (Zach Galifianakis), as he races to get there before his wife (Michelle Monaghan) gives birth to his first child.
Foxx will play Downey's longtime pal, who once dated his wife and secretly keeps in touch with her.
I'm psyched for this flick. Can you imagine the pairing of Downey Jr. and Galifianakis?? Wow.

If you have young children then you will really like this nex tshort scoop. The next Thomas the Train movie is underway and will be written by Josh Klausner of "Shrek the Third" fame.
Thomas the train is a great British TV series that follows the adventures of Thomas and his other train friends as they explore life adventures while providing good life lessons for children. I know my kids love it. And with this news of a new movie also comes word that a new TV series is underway that will be all CG.
Thomas in CG? Huh, not sure that is good idea until I see it. But I know my kids will be looking forward to the new Thomas movie. Now if only popcorn weren't so darn expensive.

Ok, now for some serious news. It was reported last week (not sure how I missed this one) that MGM is in some serious financial trouble. Naturally, the first concern for movie fans was the status of bigger projects like "The Hobbit" and the James Bond films.
Now we are getting word that MGM has garnered enough financial backing to fully fund "The Hobbit" and here is how. MGM's new CEO Steve Cooper has proposed to defer interest payment on it's debt load for the next three months and investment firm J.P. Morgan has now agreed. In return for this deferment J.P. Morgan was able to make some key changes to their debt terms. These terms have not been disclosed but I am willing to bet that it involves more of a payout after box office cash is resolved.
The first "Hobbit" movie is slated to release in 2011 and will be directed by Guillermo Del Toro. The first draft of the screenplay written by Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, and Del Toro will be submitted as early as the end of this November.
Warner Brothers will also pick up the immediate expenses as they are producing an distributing the film. It should also be noted that this decision to defer payments is not a sign of insolvency. An audit has shown that there is enough cash flow to keep things going for at least another year. But rest assured that big projects like "The Hobbit" and the James Bond films are safe for now.

Thomas Haden Church, James Purefoy and Mark Strong have signed onto the cast of “John Carter of Mars,” Disney’s adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs book series that Andrew Stanton is directing.
Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins will star in the film, which centers on a Civil War veteran (Kitsch) who finds himself mysteriously transported to Mars, where he becomes embroiled with the planet’s warring people.
Church plays Tal Hajus, an ambitious and vicious Thark warrior who is biding his time to be a ruler.
Purefoy plays Kantos Kan, the captain of the Xavarian, the kingdom of Helium’s grand warship. Strong is Matai Shang, the ruler of the Thems with godlike status.

Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day") is close to signing onto "Prisoners". Bryan Singer used to be on the project to helm, and even Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg were involved to star at one time, but time has passed and the budget has been lowered to a more managable $40 million.
Aaron Guzikowski's "Prisoners" spec script was a hot item in the town, and the project is on the fast track from Warner Brothers.
Story centers on a small-town carpenter whose young daughter and best friend are kidnapped. After the cops fail to find them, the man turns vigilante and starts an investigation of his own.
