GRAY TALKS

Ever since the original 2003 "The Italian Job" debuted, there's been talk of a sequel.  The development came close a couple of times but nothing ever came from it.  Now the original's director F. Gary Gray opens up.

He says it's all up to where Paramount is on the subject and added,  "I think it's really just about getting the material in the right place. Sequels are tough and you always want to top the original, and I think that's where the energy is being put into developing a script that is just as good, if not better, than the first."

Would he direct?  "I hope so. If you're on a movie, it depends on scheduling, that whole thing, but I certainly hope so. I loved directing that movie. It was a lot of fun, and I think people would want to hang out with that crew again and go on another ride, definitely."

PRODUCER TALKS

I was a HUGE Freddy Krueger fan back in the day.  I admit, I even had a door size poster of him on the inside of my room... thus every night I'd see him standing there looking at me.  Odd.  Very odd when I look back on that.  ANYWAY, with all of the remakes out there of 80s horror franchises, I have to admit, I thought that the one film that SHOULD be revisited is "Nightmare on Elm Street".  I miss the franchise, especially when a majority of the sequels turned more towards the dark humor approach.

But the first one, parts of the second one, and the EXCELLENT third one are the Freddy flicks that stand out the most.  The general concept is just horrifying and if you look at the recently released trailer to the remake, wow... they nailed it.  Well, almost in some eyes.

Producer Brad Fuller recently opened up about some online complaints.  He clarified that while the trailer was a success, neither Freddy's voice or look is finalized yet.  Fuller says "We are continuing to refine Freddy's look... Freddy's face is 98% practical make-up... we went hardcore on what a burn victim really looks like."

He went on to say that James Earle Haley (an EXCELLENT casting choice) is still defning Freddy's voice as well.

My opinion?  The only thing I didn't like was the lack of nose.  Yes, I understand that real burn victims generally have that look of a noseless face, sadly enough, but it just doesn't look right for Freddy Krueger.  Keep the nose.  Everything else was just right.

CHECK OUT LIAM NEESON AS ZEUSS IN

Wow.  Just... wow.  Liam Neeson signed onto this role in the upcoming remake of "Clash of the Titans" shortly after the tragic death of his wife.  Can't wait to see this flick!

GET READY FOR ANOTHER

Clark and Ellen Griswold are coming back for another wacky adventure!  One of my all-time favorite comedies will be getting a sequel.  "Vacation" featured Chevy Chase as the dim-witted dad and Beverly Di'Angelo as the tag along frustrated wife as they took their family cross-country to Wally World theme park...only to find it was closed!  The adventure along the way sparked so many lines that I could rattle off the top of my head they became classics.

Instead of a reboot (thank God) it will be an actually sequel as Chase and Di'Angelo play the grandparents that watch thier son, Rusty, take his family on a vacation journey of his own.

The project came about from New Line Cinema getting taken over by Warner Brothers.  Which is news I hadn't heard about yet until reading for this scoop.  However, when studio execs at WB were pouring over titles owned by New Line they came across "Vacation" and it was a no brainer.

Dave Dobkin will produce and possibly direct.  It is not known yet who is going to play what and it isn't even known if Chevy Chase and Beverly Di'Angelo are coming back.  Of course, how COULD you have this sequel without them?  Really.  Other actors on the short list are Vince Vaughn, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, and Jason Segel.

Dobkin was also reported to want the film to be more like "Little Miss Sunshine" than anything else.  Hmmm....not sure that's going to work here.  But either way, I can't wait to see what they do on this.

NEESON PREPARES FOR

Liam Neeson is a hot item in Hollywood now... as he should be.  He's shooting "A-Team" as we speak and now he's just signed on to the upcoming Paul Haggis thriller, "The Next Three Days".  In an even cooler light, he'll be costarring with Russell Crowe!  Crowe will play a teacher whose wife (Elizabeth Banks) is arrested and convicted of a murder she says she did not commit.

He comes up with a desperate plan to free her. Neeson will cameo as a man who escaped from prison several times, wrote a book about the subject and gives advice to Crowe's character.

Shooting has already started and Neeson will most likely film his scenes eitehr in between his "A-Team" schedules or soon after.

MANN TO HELM CAPA BIOPIC

Michael "The Man" Mann ("Public Enemies", "Heat", etc.) has signed on to helm a biopic of renowned war photographer Robert Capa.  His romance with Gerda Taro during the Spanich Civil War will be the forefront of the script.

The story begins in Paris in 1935, where Capa, a refugee from fascist Hungary, met Taro, a Jewish refugee from Nazi Germany. The outbreak of the Spanish Civil War a year later began Capa's emergence as the most renowned war photographer ever and established Taro as the first frontline female battle photographer. She was killed in the Battle of Brunete in 1937.

Love Mann.  Love his resume.  Looks like this flick will be shot very indie style.

"Halloween 3-D" preproduction is now on hold.  Production on the sequel, which ventures away from Rob Zombie (director of the "Halloween" remake and its sequel) with "My Bloody Valentine 3D" director Patrick Lussier now attached, has been halted in order to get Lussier and give him the time he needs.

Bob Weinstein announced the news for this soon-to-be Dimension Films release.

Lussier had to start shooting come November due to his duties on the upcoming Nic Cage flick, "Drive Angry", for which he is attached to direct.

The "Halloween" 3D sequel will now debut in 2011 instead of the planned 2010 release.

FIRST PICS OF SETH ROGEN IN

Okay, I stand by the opinion that I STILL could care less about a "Green Hornet" movie adaptation.  But I have to admit, when I first looked at these pics, well, I like the costume designs more than I thought I would.  But still, unless this is a comedy flick with a lot of Seth Rogen/Judd Apatow (Apatow is not connected to this project, but Rogen had a hand in the script and his comedy is synonymous with Apatow's style) comedy along with the action, then I stil say, "Who cares?"  There's gotta be an edge and if they're playing this straight at all, I'm just not enthused thus far.

NEW

So, I want to see Sylvester Stallone's "The Expenables", like, NOW.  Need to see it.  Besides the cast of the likes of Stallone, Dolph Lungdren, Jet Li, Jason Stathem, Randy Couture, etc... besides the fact that Stallone is directing it... well, read what Sly himself has to say.

Stallone first clarified the title.  "It's from Rambo 2. The girl I'm falling in love with says, 'Why do you do what you do?' I say, 'I'm expendable.' She says, 'What does that mean?' I say, 'It's like someone invites you to a party and you don't show up. It doesn't really matter.' And these men, they live a life that...They're expendable."

"If they're gone, the world will go on," he continued explaining. "No one will miss them, They don't have families, all they have is each other. They're expendable to the rest of the world, but they're not expendable to each other - they're just necessary. So it's a real brotherhood. I think it has a lot of heart for an action film."

This is what excites me.  Stallone clarified his intent with this action flick.  "What I wanted to do was just try to do something that is a little different. Today, technically, we're incredibly gifted and versatile with CGI, and I wanted to do a film that was more about men, doing things that we did back in the 80s and 90s that were a little more mano a mano - actual, physical stunts." He added, "It's also a story that isn't super-gigantic; it's almost a believable story."

The flick tells the story of a group of tight-nit mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American dictator, only things go sour and are not what they seem to be.

Jean Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal DECLINED, yes, declined roles in the film... for some odd reason.  Shame.  Maybe they'll sign for the sequel?  Maybe Stallone can also get, um, Michael Biehn!  And on a lesser note, Jeff Speakman (remember him?).  Now... now I'm just dreaming.
