Hobie Buppert is the Founder and CEO of Bawls, a high-caffiene soft drink. He was present at Slamdance 2005 to sponsor the "Big C", an independent game competition. This is a first for Slamdance, having independent gamers represented at a film festival. This is also a first for Hobie; he normally sponsors electronic gaming festivals.
