TRUE BLOOD Episode 16: Bloody Good Fun! Hot

TRUE BLOOD Episode 16: Bloody Good Fun!

TRUE BLOOD evolves as this week’s episode extends the conspiracy and productively builds on the growing cast of supernaturals. Caught in the middle is the naive Tara who falls prey to Maryann’s wicked party girl comely vibes. A whole lot of shakin’ concludes this provocative episode, and Jessica might just take in a little O-positive man blood in the process.

Alan Ball’s truly wild continuing vampire chronicle has successfully captured viewers of all ages with its mix of sex and horror. The show exhibits cool chops with Episode 16, “Let’s Take a Trip Together,” also called “Shake and Fingerpop.” And “Breaking Bad” fans will cheer the presence of Dean Norris who gets glamoured playfully.

When Sookie and Bill decide to go to Texas on a mission for Sheriff Eric Northman, they decide that Jessica must tag along. Jessica is Bill’s creation and Sookie has accepted her fully. Bill cautions that Sookie can’t take her as her girlfriend. While this is meant as a platonic caution, one ponders the possibility of Jessica joining Bill and Sook in a bit of night-time frivolity. Save that explicit fantasy for future episodes, because this show is all about plot development. Wicked things are afoot and the vampire nation is at risk. Bill waxes almost poetic as he explains to Sookie that he envies Jessica’s life—growing up vampire at a time when his kind are more than just prey.

Meanwhile Jason Stackhouse has solidified his relationship with the Light of Day leadership and may be picked to carry wooden bullets. More than one, I suppose, Jason’s no Barney Fife. But Jason is clearly not a blind soldier who will follow orders without considering the consequences. Lazarus might be the first vampire, but Jason points out that Jesus may have been one too. I’m getting a Van Helsing sense from the boy. Maybe the Light of Day cult will wreak havoc on only the bad vamps. And why stop there, Sam Merlotte’s got his hands full with the affections of a waitress with deep scratches across her back. Is this winsome woman the same beast that nearly took Sookie’s life?

Episode 16 offers much as TRUE BLOOD season 2 advances forward. People are talking and the discussion is bloody good fun.
